Residential AppraisalsField InspectionsNormally letters are sent to the taxpayer asking for an appointment in order to review the new construction, remodel or any addition to the property. On-site data is added to our records accordingly. If no inspection is performed, information is added per the building permit or from the best data available in our office. ReappraisalReappraisal is required by the State of Michigan in order to maintain uniformity throughout each jurisdiction of the State. A five-year cycle for reappraisal is suggested for each jurisdiction. Reappraisals must include an entire geographic neighborhood. Each property is reviewed whether or not the resident responds to the survey or request for inspection. Data is obtained and compiled from the survey sent to each property owner and from an on-site inspection performed by a member of the assessor’s staff.
