MINUTES OF CASCADE CHARTER TOWNSHIP
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
Wednesday, June 27, 2007
7:00 P.M.

Article 1. Supervisor Julien called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Supervisor Julien, Trustees Beahan, Koessel, Goldberg, Treasurer Carpenter and Clerk Goodyke.
Absent: Trustee Fox
Also Present: Planning Director Peterson and those listed in Supplement #1.

Article 2. Supervisor Julien led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Article 3. The Agenda was revised to include the following:
" Article 9. 045-2007 - Kent County Road Commission Local Road Construction Authorization re: Bolt Dr.
The Agenda was approved with the above stated revision on a motion by Trustee Koessel and supported by Trustee Beahan. Motion carried unanimously.

Article 4. Approval of Consent Agenda
a. Approval of Township Board Minutes
1. Regular Board Meeting Minutes for 6/13/07.
b. Receive and File Various Meeting Minutes
1. Regular Planning Commission Meeting Minutes for 6/4/07.
2. Board of County Road Commission Meeting Minutes for 5/22/07.
Motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Trustee Goldberg and supported by Clerk Goodyke. Motion carried unanimously.

Article 5. Financial Actions
a. Consider Resolution to Adjust the 2007 Police Fund Budget.
Motion to approve the Resolution to Adjust the 2007 Police Fund Budget was made by Trustee Koessel and supported by Trustee Goldberg. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.

Article 6. Public Actions
a. Public Hearing - Revise Wall signage to Comply with Current Sign Code on the North Side of 28th St. between Betten Auto and Burger King.
Motion to recess the public meeting and convene into a Public Hearing
was made by Trustee Koessel and supported by Trustee Goldberg.
Motion carried unanimously.
Planning Director Peterson reviewed the request for the Esplanade
Shopping Center.
Motion to close the Public Hearing and reconvene into Regular
was made by Trustee Beahan and supported by Treasurer Carpenter.

043-2007 Consider Approval to Revise Wall Signage to Comply with Current Sign Code on the North Side of 28th St. between Betten Auto and Burger King.
Motion to amend the Ordinance to Revise Wall Signage to Comply with Current Sign Code on the North Side of 28th St. between Betten Auto and Burger King. (Esplanade) was made by Trustee Koessel and supported by Clerk Goodyke. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.

044-2007 Consider Approval of Resolution Promoting the Continuation of the Open Space Committee.
" Dr. Robb Bajema will be present to give a brief review of the Physical Features Inventory.
Mr. Robb Bajema gave a brief overview regarding the inventory of the physical features of the natural features of Cascade Township.
Motion to approve the Resolution Promoting the Continuation of
the Open Space Committee was made by Trustee Koessel and
supported by Trustee Goldberg. Motion carried unanimously by
roll call vote.

045-2007 Consider Approval of the Paving of 350 ft. of Bolt Dr. S.E. with the Construction done by Kent County Road Commission
Local Construction and Maintenance Division.
Motion to approve an additional $1,500.00 for the Paving of Bolt Dr., S.E. was made by Treasurer Carpenter and supported by Trustee Goldberg. Motion carried unanimously.

Article 10. Manager's Comments
The following comments were presented by Interim Manager Beahan:
" July 4th Celebration coming up next week. Sandra Otey and Steve Korhorn have accumulated $17,500.00 in donations/sponsorships from businesses in Cascade. This is an increase of 
$ 4,700.00 over last year.
" 28th St. paving is proceeding very good. Center lane is only thing that needs to be done...should be done in a day or so. Striping will be done by the end of the week.
" Burton St. is going out for bids for sewer. Letters have gone out to neighbors regarding the testing of wells to alleviate any fears they may have.
" First Summer Concert is tonight.
" Tree issues have all been resolved.
" Jack Lewis, Planning Commission member, his wife passed away this week.

Article 11. Board Member Comments
The following comments were presented by Trustee Koessel:
" Pondera will be contacting Board Members and staff regarding input for the hiring of a new Township Manager.
" The advertising that is going on in the retail center by Chemical Bank by a certain merchant…what are we going to do about that? Planning Director Peterson stated that it should be resolved one way or the other…either by compliance or through the courts this week.
" Hole in the road on Thornapple River Drive…should get Kent County Road Commission to fix.

Article 12. Adjournment
Motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Goldberg and supported by Trustee Beahan. Motion carried unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
