MINUTES

CASCADE CHARTER TOWNSHIP REGULAR BOARD MEETING

Wednesday, February 25, 2004
7:00 PM

Article 1. Supervisor Julien called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Carpenter, Goodyke, Julien, Kleinheksel, and Parrish
Absent: Jones and Timmons (with notice)
Others Present: Manager Cravens, Deputy Clerk Neve and those listed on Supplement #1.

Article 2. Supervisor Julien led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

Article 3. The agenda was approved on motion by Trustee Goodyke and supported by Clerk Kleinheksel. The motion carried.

Motion to approve the consent agenda carried.

23-2004 Consider Various Resolutions Adopting the Municipal Employees'
Retirement System (MERS) of Michigan as the Employee Pension Program
Manager Cravens related 80 percent of the employees have expressed interest in joining MERS. Under this program the Township's contribution to the employee's pension would remain at 10 percent of their gross salary. The participating employees would contribute 3.8 percent of their gross salary. If all agreements and resolutions are approved tonight the MERS program would become effective March 1, 2004.
Trustee Parrish supported by Trustee Goodyke moved to approve the resolutions. Clerk Kleinheksel requested the motion be amended to include approving the membership agreement with the resolutions. The motion was amended and carried unanimously by roll call vote.

24-2004 Consider Gypsy Moth Suppression Agreement with Mid-Michigan
Helicopters Inc.
Manager Cravens related the spraying costs per acre has increased to $21.00 and the amount of acres being sprayed has also increased slightly. $7,300 has already been spent to determine the spray areas. The cost for spraying would be $18,249.
Trustee Parrish questioned if the Township would provide the prevention program for West Nile Virus again this year.
Manager Cravens responded he would like to do the same program as last year.
Trustee Parrish supported by Treasurer Carpenter moved to approve. The motion carried.

25-2004 Consider Request to Close Route in Centennial Park for American Heart Association Walk
Clerk Kleinheksel related the Heart Association has done the walk for several years without any problems.
Trustee Goodyke supported by Treasurer Carpenter moved to approve. The motion carried.

26-2004 Consider Approval of Kent County Road Commission Construction
Authorization for Thornapple River Water Main Crossing
Trustee Parrish supported by Trustee Goodyke moved to approve. The
motion carried.

Article 10. Manager's Comments (none)

Article 11. Board Member Comments
Treasurer Carpenter reminded Board members that dog licenses are
available in the office until March 1st.
Supervisor Julien related he participated in a Paczki eating contest on Fat
Tuesday.

Article 12. Adjournment
Trustee Parrish supported by Clerk Kleinheksel moved to adjourn. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.
