2010 Board Goals

1. Complete the re-construction of the Township website to make it a state of the art tool for marketing and promotion of the township.  Expand its use as a communication medium including pages for a Township calendar and video streaming of meetings to showcase our township as a great place to live and work.

2. Codify the General Ordinances of the Township.

3. Continue implementation of economic growth opportunities with other agencies.

4. Consider implementing a Farmers Market in or near the central “Village” area for the residents of Cascade.  Explore the needs and best location to provide an exciting and pleasant social event for the public.

5. Monitor the various Township budgets to find ways to match any reduction in revenues with reduced expenditures.

6.Examine the opportunities and ramifications of an ordinance to eliminate the use of phosphorus based fertilizers in the Township.

7. Investigate the educational and financial opportunities for the installation of wind turbines and solar panels at the Cascade Library.

8. Continue to improve the Burton and Peace Parks by installing parking areas, marked trails and perimeter signage in the parks.  Removing unneeded interior fencing and debris from both parks.

9. Explore opportunities to add to the pathway system in the Township.  Communicate with neighboring municipalities to connect their pathways to Township pathways.  Create a master plan for future additions and provide recommendations for funding the construction and maintenance of an expanded pathway system in the Township.

10. Assess the functions of the many Township services and consider ways to coordinate or consolidate services with neighboring municipalities.  Communicate with other units of government to focus on improved services to Township residents with a possible reduction of expenditures for the services.

11. Develop responsible options to GO! Bus expenditures.  Look at the cost of creating a Township operated bus system and/or a system used in conjunction with Ada and Grand Rapids Townships.
