Programs

Safe At Home program is a sponsored program created by the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal Division in conjunction with the Michigan Public Education Advisory Committee to teach fire safety to children between kindergarten and twelfth grade. We have been involved in this program for two (2) years and have had a tremendous amount of success with the program. We have taught the program to first and third graders in the Township.

School Lunch and Reading Programs are programs at the elementary schools.  We eat lunch with the kids and spend time talking to them. We also go in to the schools once or twice a year and read books to different classes. These programs provide an opportunity for us to meet the kids and for them to get to know us.

Block Parties and Birthday Parties are other things we do for the Township residents. We either go out to the person’s house or invite them to our station.

4th of July is a big event for us.  We have a parade in the morning followed by a community field day with games, rides, entertainment and great food.

Halloween is another big events for us. We have an annual Halloween party at our station so kids as well as adults can come up and receive safe candy, food, drinks and games in a safe environment.

Preschool programs are classes we teach to preschool children about fire safety. We go to the schools or invite them to our station to share the basics of fire safety. We have found that it is worthwhile to start teaching children as soon as possible and keep teaching them up through their school years.

The safety checks will take place at the Cascade Township Fire Department at 2865 Thornhills Ave. SE.
